Dissertation note: Undergraduate Theses (BSN) - Nursing. Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges, 2024. Abstract: The study is conducted to determine the level of understanding of the health- seeking behavior of the elderly. In this study, a descriptive-correlational design was used to determine the profile of the respondents, the level of understanding of health-seeking behaviors among the elderly, and identify the degree of effect of the factors affecting the level of understanding of health-seeking behavior. The research method is descriptive correlational the descriptive-correlational to gather data, analyze, conclude, and give recommendations for the problem. Survey questionnaires were distributed to 126 elderly respondents of Causip, Bula Camarines Sur. The results showed that most of the respondents belong to the age group of 60-64 years old, married, elementary undergraduate, Roman Catholic, and gets their financial source through Senior Citizen subsidy. The respondents fully understood the preventive measures, but not completely understood the curative and complementary and alternative therapies. Further, they are greatly affected by perceived severity, perceived benefits, and perceived barriers. However, most of the respondents are moderately affected by their perceived susceptibility, cues to action, and self-efficacy to change their health-seeking behaviour. Most of the categories within the respondents’ profiles have no significant relationship with their level of understanding of health-seeking behaviors. However, educational attainment has shown significant results and appears to be correlated with the respondents’ level of understanding. Both the residents especially the elderly with their families and the barangay health personnel should collaborate more to achieve a better understanding of health-seeking behaviour. It can be done through investing efforts in health promotion programs and providing new and improved health-related programs to cater the needs of the residents, highlighting a better health outcome.
