With the rising pervasiveness of AI platforms worldwide, their influence has grown significantly in the education system. In particular, AI platforms have extended into nursing education. Students now use AI to support their studies. Artificial intelligence (AI)- assisted learning is significantly transforming education, providing personalized learning experiences for student nurses. This quantitative study evaluates the effects of AI-assisted learning on the academic performance of 337 student nurses at Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges along with skills, knowledge, and attitude. Moreover, it also assessed the intrinsic and extrinsic factors affecting the use of AI-assisted learning. Utilizing descriptive correlational design, data were gathered electronically through Google Forms and analyzed using percentage techniques, weighted means, and Chi-square tests of independence. The results show that the majority of the respondents of this study are 20 years old, with females being the majority, and came from families with monthly incomes ranging from Php 12,030 to Php 24,060. Most of the respondents use ChatGPT, with the majority using it one to two times a week with cell phones as their primary device, and have a GWA of 90–94 (1.75–1.4) during the 2nd semester of A.Y. 2023–2024. The results also revealed that student nurses agree that AI-assisted learning helps in developing effective care plans, understanding complicated concepts, and enhancing their motivation to tackle and explore different nursing concepts. For the factors affecting their utilization of AI platforms, it’s because they used it for answering their queries when their instructors were not available and also because these platforms are easy to use. A significant relationship was also found between certain respondents’ profiles and the effects of AI-assisted learning on their academic performance. Lastly, the study highlights the importance of a mindful integration of AI-assisted learning into nursing education and provides recommendations to enhance academic outcomes.
