520 3 _aCervical cancer is a non-communicable disease ranked second among female cancer types in the Philippines in terms of prevalence and mortality rate. The country has one of the lowest cervical cancer screening rates in the world, with only about 1% out of 54 million women undergoing cervical cancer screening. Women are integral part of our society, and awareness about women’s health is important in empowering women to take proactive control of their well-being. This study assessed the level of awareness in cervical cancer among women of reproductive age in Tapayas and San Francisco, Balatan, and explored factors affecting their level of awareness. Most of the 392 total respondents were aged 20-29 years old; High School Graduates; and majority are Roman Catholic with a Family Monthly Income of less than Php. 10, 957. It was found that family monthly income has a significant relationship with the level of awareness regarding cervical cancer. The results also revealed that women of reproductive age in Balatan were generally aware of the sign and symptoms and risk factors associated with cervical cancer. However, critical area, such as the asymptomatic nature of early-stage cervical cancer and HPV infection being the primary cause, are less understood despite their significance in early detection and prevention. In terms of the screening and vaccination methods for cervical cancer, the respondents were found to be moderately aware. This emphasizes that although there is a foundational level of awareness, crucial gaps persist in women's understanding of cervical cancer. These gaps can hinder effective utilization of cervical cancer prevention services, underscoring the urgent need for targeted interventions specifically for low-income communities to address the awareness gap among women of reproductive age.
