520 3 _aConcrete is a popular construction material composed of aggregate, cement, and water. It is highly versatile and widely used worldwide. The composition of concrete can be adjusted to achieve specific properties by varying the proportions of its main components. This study aimed to evaluate the properties of concrete by utilizing anahaw (saribus rotundifolius) and banana (musa acuminata x balbisiana) leaf ash to partially replace the cement. The properties of controlled and designed mixtures were compared. The physical properties of the materials used were determined. Physical and mechanical properties of the developed concrete were also determined such as slump, unit weight, specific gravity, compressive and flexural strengths, respectively, were also determined. Findings show that anahaw leaf ash displayed a higher density of 2.18 g/ml than banana leaf ash with 1.67g/ml. The percentage fineness of anahaw indicates 98.4% while banana leaf ash has 97.7%. The incorporation of anahaw leaf ash into concrete mixtures showed a decrease in the unit weight of 258.44 while banana leaf ash exhibited a slightly elevated unit weight of 265.46. Slump of concrete with anahaw leaf ash has a slump of 30mm while banana leaf ash has 26mm. Compressive strengths of concrete mixtures with 10% anahaw leaf ash and a combination of 5% anahaw and 5% banana leaf ash are 10.73MPa and 9.08MPa, respectively. And flexural strengths of concrete mixtures with 10% anahaw leaf ash, 10% banana leaf ash and a combination of 5% anahaw and 5% banana leaf ash are 2.87MPa, 2.52MPa and 2.97MPa, respectively, surpassing the minimum criteria of ASTM standard.
