This study focused on the physical properties of Milipili ash in terms of specific gravity and fineness and the strength of concrete in terms of flexural and compressive in every concrete specimen produced by the researchers. Findings: The specimens have a curing period of 14 and 28 days with a 1:2:4 mix proportion and a cement-Milipili ash concentration of 95:5, 90:10, 85:15, and 100:0. The result of the calculated specific gravity of the Milipili ash is 0.58, indicating that the Milipili ash is less dense than water and typical cement. The researchers selected Sieve No. 100 as the smallest mesh, resulting in a cumulative percentage passing of 95.5% for Milipili ash. The fineness modulus of the ash was calculated as 0.8181, indicating the presence of fine particles. In terms of flexural strength cured for 14 days, specimen A has an average strength of 1.79 MPa, B has 1.62 MPa, C has 1.29 MPa, and D has 2.53, all lower than the minimum requirement of 2.7. With a 28-day curing period, specimens A, B, C, and D have 2.59, 2.09, 2.02, and 3.22 as strength, respectively, showing that only A and D reached 3.0 MPa. In terms of compressive strength with a 14-day curing period, specimens A, B, C, and D acquired an average strength of 6.05, 4.68, 3.57, and 15.9, respectively. This means that all specimens failed to pass the requirement of 18 MPa strength. Given 28 days as the curing period, specimens A, B, C, and D still could not reach the required strength of 20.7 MPa, with the results of 6.78, 6.48, 4.04, and 16.42 MPa strengths, respectively. There is a significant difference in the curing days and ratio of Milipili present in each specimen. The researchers recommend further experimentation using other proportions or combinations of ash content and other indigenous materials as partial replacements for cement. | |
