520 3 _aThis study investigated the three (3) chosen homilies of online Eucharistic celebrations during the Peñafrancia Feast using Brown and Levinson's Politeness Strategies Theory (1987). The study has one research question: (1.) What are the politeness strategies employed in Peñafrancia Feast Mass?. Employing the Jeffersonian Transcription System, the researchers transcribed three corpus data sets that substantiate the objective of the study. Homifies were selected as the focal point of analysis due to their exclusive occurrence within the entirety of the mass, contrasting with other parts that may be repeated and/or routinary. Findings revealed that among the four categories of Politeness Strategies delineated by Brown and Levinson (1987), Positive Politeness Strategy exhibited the highest prevalence across the three selected videos, comprising 37.80% of occurrences. Following this, Off-Record Politeness Strategy accounted for 28.05%, Bald-On Politeness Strategy for 18.30%, and Negative Politeness Strategy was least prevalent at 15.85%. Moreover, this undertaking sheds light on the use of politeness strategies within the homilies of the Peñafrancia Feast Mass, contributing valuable insights to discourse on linguistic pragmatics within religious contexts. This unravels on how politeness strategies within homilies may both reflect and influence culture and language within religious communities.
