520 3 _aTikTok emerged as a significant platform impacting consumers' visual attention spans. This study employed visual framing analysis to examine how digital media shaped visual journalism, focusing on breaking news about #ElNino. Analyzing news reports by various outlets in the Philippines posted on TikTok as content, it explored denotative, stylistic-semiotic, connotative, and ideological levels using Rodriguez and Dimitrova's model, demonstrating how visual tools effectively communicated El Niño's impacts. At the denotative level, visuals from news stations depicted the direct impacts of environmental disasters, such as withered landscapes and empty reservoirs, stressing the urgency of addressing climate impacts. The stylistic-semiotic level examined how color schemes, composition, and visual elements contributed to conveying urgency and long-term effects. Heat colors indicated El Niño's immediacy, while cool colors suggested enduring impacts. It was found that wide shots and close-ups evoked various emotions, highlighting themes of perseverance and interdependence. In connotation, the study revealed that images symbolized environmental degradation and resilience, while scenes of firefighters evoked heroism and community support. Ideologically, the study uncovered themes of class differences and environmental fairness, advocating for inclusive decisions that prioritized affected communities. Overall, this research exhibited TikTok's potential impact on raising climate change awareness and emphasized the importance of visual journalism.
