The purpose of this study is to evaluate BSOA student's skills with machine stenography techniques, with an emphasis on diction and transcription. By means of surveys and practical assessments the study explores a range of factors that could impact student's skills, such as efficacy of training of training initiatives and individual practice. The analysis of the data revealed that respondents showed significant improvement in striking speed and transcription ability after the intervention. The weighted mean of the post-test scores indicated a notable increased compared to the pre-test scores. Additionally, the rank ordering method was employed to identify the most and least improve skills among the respondents, providing valuable insights for future research and pedagogical applications. Percentage technique was utilized to determine the extent of improvement in reading comprehension, which demonstrated considerable enhancement following the intervention. Overall, the findings suggest the efficacy of the intervention enhancing machine shorthand skills among the respondents. Twenty-seven (27) students completed the survey instrument. This study revealed machine shorthand on student's knowledge is moderately skilled and performance is skilled. The conducted pre-test of transcription is moderately skilled, and performance is skilled. The conducted pre-test of transcription id moderately skilled with a weighted mean score of 2.53 and post-test of dictation with a verbal interpretation of skilled. These findings suggest that there is a potential for further enhancement of student's machine shorthand skills through targeted instruction and practice. In addition, the instructional materials should focus on enhancing the student's ability to transcribe spoken language into machine shorthand with accuracy and speed. A development of instructional materials shall be proposed for the improvement of student's performance which include; learn to operate the machine shorthand through propoer keyboard techniques and full understanding of the principle involved learning. | |
