Abstract: The health and well-being of residents in Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDAs) in Virac, Catanduanes are significantly influenced by local sanitation practices. This study aimed to explore the effects of these practices on the health of residents in selected GIDAs. The respondents of the study were 303 heads of the family and residents Barangays Talisay, Palta Small, Marcelo Alberto, Dugui San Vicente, Antipolo Del Norte, Calampong, Caloocan, and Magnesia Del Norte. Slovin's formula and stratified random sampling were utilized to determine the total number of respondents. Utilizing descriptive-comparative research designs, the study gathered data from residents using a self-made questionnaire. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics to identify the profile of the respondents, sanitation practices, effects of sanitation practices on health, and the difference in the sanitation practices when the respondents are grouped according to profile. The study was guided by the Health Belief Model and Social Ecological Model, which emphasizes the role of environmental factors in shaping health outcomes. Key findings revealed that sanitation practices affect the physical, mental, and social health of the residents of GIDAs. The study concludes that improving sanitation infrastructure and promoting health education are crucial for enhancing the overall well-being of residents in these GIDAs. Recommendations include the implementation of community-based sanitation programs, increased government support for infrastructure development, and ongoing monitoring of health outcomes to ensure sustainable improvements.
