Summary: "In this book, students will learn about national and international efforts to address the disparate effects of economic development and worldwide patterns based on a person's location, gender, social class, or other political affiliations. The Commission on Higher Education's (CHED) Memorandum Order No. 1 Series of 2015, which establishes the policies and guidelines on Gender and Development in their organization and among the Higher Education Institutions under their care, and the Plan Framework of the Philippine Gender-Responsive Development of 1995 informed its development. It aims to instill in students a view of development that is considered participatory, empowering, highly sustainable, free of violence (emphasizing the beauty of peace), respectful of humanity and its rights, human actualization of potential, and self-determination. Additionally, it is consistent with the university's philosophy, which states that students and other UB family members are formed to develop knowledge, skills, and values that they will use to become excellent individuals and work to preserve and advance Philippine society. This is comparable to them developing into future leaders who think that ever person is endowed with human dignity and quality and can contribute to creating better families, communities, countries, and worlds than we already have. This book also examines the complicated interaction between gender and society and how it affects people on an individual and community level. We will also look at the contribution that peace education makes to the advancement of both gender equality and a more just and equitable society. To provide a thorough knowledge of the topics we will be examining, we will draw on various theories and points of view throughout the book, including feminist and critical race theories. Overall, the goal of this book is to give readers a thorough grasp of the complicated link between gender and society, as well as the effects that relationship has on people and communities. We will also look at how peace education advances both gender equality and a society that is more just and equitable. We will use a variety of theories and viewpoints throughout the book to create a thorough knowledge of the topics we will be examining"-- Preface of the book.
