Dissertation note: Undergraduate Theses (BSEE) - Electrical Engineering. Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges, 2023. Abstract: This study explores the fusion of Electrical Installation and Maintenance NCII with a Fire Detection Alarm System (FDAS) Trainer Unit, focusing on their combined influence on improving competencies in electrical and fire detection domains. The FDAS trainer unit, locally assembled, gains traction due to its effectiveness, affordability, and real-world applicability, providing professionals and students with practical learning experiences to keep abreast of advancing technologies. The main aim is to devise a device and accompanying instructional manual for Fire Detection Alarm System Training Unit Development and Acceptability assessment. Key inquiries include the design and development of the trainer unit and manual, alongside evaluating their acceptability levels concerning performance efficiency, reliability, maintainability, content, and format. A descriptive approach is favored, facilitating systematic, factual, and objective description, crucial for ensuring the trainer unit's effectiveness and maintainability. The researchers meticulously planned and executed various stages, including planning, designing, fabrication, acceptability testing, data collection, statistical analysis, and material/equipment assessment. Evaluation of the trainer unit and manual reveals commendable performance across several aspects. However, areas for improvement are noted, such as false alarm instances, system failure in fire detection, and inadequacies in the manual's explanations. Recommendations are proposed for integrating these tools into training programs to enrich knowledge, skills, and attitudes in the respective fields.
