Sequel to: Treasure cave.
Len, Am and Ted sail their sloop "Altair" from Maine to the Gulf of Mexico. They come upon a crew of men who are drilling oil at sea and become involved in a battle for new oil sites. Another company is looking for oil and does not stop at anything, even the murder of a geologist and his helper. The boys are instrumental in finding the murderers and learn many things about the oil business.
