Abstract: This study aims to determine the Machine Shorthand Proficiency of BSOA students along Dictation and Transcription. Data was gathered from the total population of fourth-year BSOA students at Camarines Sur Polytechnic College-Buhi Extension Campus. The researchers utilized the descriptive method as the main gathering tool in the study, using weighted mean to compute the Proficiency and Problems Encountered in machine shorthand of BSOA students. Findings showed that in terms of 1. Machine Shorthand Proficiency of BSOA students along Diction, in this study reveals that the respondents have active listening skills; on the other hand, in terms of 2. Machine Shorthand Proficiency of BSOA students along Transcription, it was revealed that the respondents have skills with emphasis on spelling, punctuation, grammar, and vocabulary words. The Problems Encountered of BSOA students along Dictation is the inability to construct outline unfamiliar words under stress dictation, and in terms of the Problems Encountered of BSOA students along transcription was revealed that the respondents are Slow and Inaccurate in reading the touch notes. Furthermore, this research proposes recommendations to enhance the Machine Shorthand Proficiency of Bachelor of Science in Office Administration Students.
