Open Laboratory faces security breaches and attendance tracking inefficiencies due to manual methods, needed an automated solution for academic research and practical learn- ing. With these, this study developed a web-based management system for the Open Lab- oratory to simplify monitoring and data management by streamlining the control of ac- cess to the laboratory. This study generally aims to address challenges encountered faced by students and instructors in accessing Open Laboratory, including attendance monitor- ing, laboratory scheduling, reporting issues, and managing laboratory equipment. The re- searchers used Extreme Programming as the software development methodology and a mixed-methods design for data collection. The system was evaluated using black box test- ing including compatibility, usability and security testing. Survey questionnaires and test cases were answered by student, instructors, laboratory technician, laboratory in-charge, and IT experts. The data were analyzed and interpreted through Arithmetic mean. The compatibility testing results were highly compatible for different browsers, while the us- ability results indicate a highly usable interface with minor areas for improvement. Security testing yielded a low-risk score of 0.92, indicating minimal vulnerabilities. Consequently, the developed system, “Simplisafe: A Web-based Management System for the Integrated Door-Lock for Open Laboratory”, is expected to enhance Open Laboratory access, simpli- fying monitoring and data management efficiently, and user-friendly to the users.
