"Computer Graphics is the creation of pictures with the help of a computer. The end product of computer graphics is a picture; it may be a business graph, drawing, and engineering. Computer graphics is an art of drawing pictures, lines, charts, etc using computers with the help of programming. Computer graphics are made up of a number of pixels. Pixel is the smallest graphical picture or unit represented on the computer screen. Basically, there are two types of computer graphics namely. Drawing and painting software is available on most platforms at the University. However, there are many differences between software intended primarily for drawing and that intended for painting. Drawing software will provide the user with a set of 'entities' used to construct the drawing (an entity is a drawing element such as a line, circle, or text string). Graphic design is the art of visual communication through the use of images, words, and ideas to give information to the viewers. Graphic design can be used for advertising, or just for entertainment intended for the mind. Modern computer graphics card displays almost overwhelmingly use raster techniques, dividing the screen into a rectangular grid of pixels, due to the relatively low cost of raster-based video hardware as compared with vector graphic hardware. Most graphic hardware has internal support for blitting operations and sprite drawing. This book presents the basic principles for the use and design of computer graphics systems, as well as illustrates algorithm implementations and graphics applications"-- Back cover.
