"An electrician is a tradesperson specializing in electrical wiring of buildings, transmission lines, stationary machines, and related equipment. Electricians maybe employed in the installation of new electrical components or the maintenance and repair of existing electrical infrastructure. Electricians may also specialize in wiring ships, airplanes, and other mobile platforms, as well as data and cable lines. In addition to the workplace hazards generally faced by industrial workers, electricians are also particularly exposed to injury by electricity. An electrician may experience electric shock due to direct contact with energized circuit conductors or due to stray voltage caused by faults in a system. Electrical service refers to the conductors, materials, and equipment that transfer power from the utility system to the wiring system that supplies the subject property with electrical power. Commercial buildings should only be supplied by one electrical service. The basic electrical installations are, lighting i.e. providing illumination both inside and outside buildings exhaust fans, use of portable and non-portable electrical machines or appliances and their wiring network, including sub-main wiring, cable, O.H. lines etc., including control panel and switches. Electricians use a range of hand and power tools and instruments. This book is part of the Instructional Material consists of both Practical and Theory for Basic Electrical Engineering course. This study book is designed to cover the requirements of regulations in relation to the supply of electricity"-- Back cover.
