Electrical wiring installation is vital in modern infrastructure, but the continued use of conventional fish tape causes physical strain, inefficiency, and safety risks for electricians. This study, “Design of an Automated Fish Tape (Wire Puller) Using DC Motor Control for Electrical Wiring Installations”, aimed to design, fabricate, and evaluate a cost-efficient and portable prototype suited for residential applications. A developmental method was employed, integrating a 12V DC geared motor, rechargeable lithium-ion battery, fiberglass-reinforced casing, and reel mechanism. Engineering analysis validated conduit fill, pulling tension, torque, motor current, power demand, battery capacity, and bending safety. Tests with certified NC II practitioners assessed portability, durability, operational speed, and user experience. Results showed that the prototype reduced manual effort and demonstrated durability and reliability, though its operational speed was rated poor compared to the traditional fish tape. Despite this limitation, cost analysis confirmed it as a practical and affordable alternative to bulky industrial models. The study concludes that DC motor automation can modernize traditional tools and provide a safer, more efficient option for electricians and technicians.
