Environmental issues are one of the major issues that the Earth is facing for the last 200 years. While various strategies have been employed to address these increasing challenges, the role of language in shaping ecological awareness remains unexplored. Recognizing this gap, this study investigates how the candidates of Miss Earth, an entertainment platform blending beauty, entertainment, and environmental advocacy, frame their responses during the Question-and Answer portion of the platform. Employing Critical Discourse Analysis, the study investigates the linguistic choices of the candidates for ecological awareness to uncover the underlying ideologies and power relations shaping the environmental discourse in pageants, particularly Miss Earth through utilizing the framework of Norman Fairclough’s Three-Dimensional Model. The study selected five consecutive years of Miss Earth pageant starting from 2019-2024, excluding the year 2020 and extracted the responses of the Final top 4 from the official YouTube channel of Miss Earth. These responses were analyzed in three stages such as Description, Interpretation, and Explanation. From the research findings, the responses of the contestants are observed to use urgency-driven narratives, human-centric appeals, and solution-oriented phrases to make the issues relatable for the audiences and motivate them to take immediate action.
