Family planning is a crucial aspect of reproductive health, yet male involvement remains limited, particularly in rural communities. This study explores the men's perspectives on family planning responsibility within relationship dynamics in Virac, Catanduanes. Recognizing the vital role men play in reproductive health, the study aimed to analyze their roles and responsibilities in family planning, determine factors affecting their involvement, and examine the relationship between their demographic profile and perceptions. Despite efforts by health programs, men's involvement in family planning remains limited due to cultural norms and misconceptions framing contraception as a woman's responsibility. A quantitative-descriptive correlational research design was utilized. The respondents were male residents of Virac, Catanduanes, aged 18 to 60 years, who were married or in long-term committed relationships. Using purposive sampling, the study gathered data through a self-made questionnaire validated by experts and pre-tested to ensure clarity and reliability. Data were analyzed using percentages, weighted mean, Spearman's rank correlation coefficient, and the Chi-square test of independence. Findings revealed that most men strongly agree in their roles and responsibilities in family planning decisions. Family support, partner's encouragement, and access to information and education were identified as significant factors influencing male involvement. Statistical analysis revealed a significant relationship between the respondents' education, occupation, family monthly income, and their perceived roles and responsibilities in family planning. Additionally, it indicated a significant relationship between perceived roles and responsibilities and the factors influencing men's involvement in family planning. The study highlights the need to strengthen the engagement of men by addressing socio-cultural barriers, enhancing knowledge, and promoting shared responsibility. It recommends targeted health education campaigns and couple-focused counseling to foster open discussions and balanced decision-making, leading to improved reproductive health outcomes for families in Virac, Catanduanes.
