In this paper, as proposed solution, the design and development of this biomass based multifunctional dryer targeting to provide a low cost and efficient drying solution for the agricultural and aquacultural products employed in rural areas is presented. The system offers a solution to the limitations imposed by conventional electric dryers, including high operational costs and post-harvest losses, by utilizing rice husk as a renewable source of thermal energy. The main purpose was to build a dryer with an automatic temperature, humidity and airflow control that accommodate tilapia, banana slices and gabi leaves. To monitor and control the drying environment, the Arduino Uno microcontroller was used, with DHT22 sensors and an L298N motor driver. The methodology consists of three stages: engineering design, mechanical fabrication and electronic integration followed by performance evaluation. To evaluate the prototype, experimental trials were carried out to demonstrate that the dryer can maintain an internal temperature of 50-70 °C depending on drying requirement with a drying rate of 0.133 kg/hr. It shows that the system can operate under different environmental conditions and product types and is adaptable and energy efficient. Overall, this project presents a sustainable alternative to electric dryers which presents a viable dryer solution for small to medium scale drying applications in agricultural communities.
