The importance of efficient electronic waste (e-waste) management systems (EMS) is discussed in this paper, focusing on evaluating their sustainability from an economic, environmental, and social standpoint. It emphasizes how crucial it is to assess the effects of reconfigurations in e-waste treatment facilities and offers a framework for decision assistance for businesses engaged in e-waste management. With socioeconomic and environmental concerns considered, the study covers the full e-waste management chain, from production and use to treatment and disposal. Techniques for evaluating e-waste inventories that can be modified for use in underdeveloped nations are also looked at. To manage e-waste, an integrated approach that takes into account sources, toxicological effects, evaluation, governance, and mitigation is essential. Additionally, it is crucial to manage e-waste strategically in developing nations. The decision support approach comprises sustainability criteria and assessment tools, as well as methods for stakeholders involved in decision-making to review EMS reconfigurations. This all-encompassing strategy opens the door for sustainable, life-cycle thinking in e-waste management by facilitating conversations about the advantages and disadvantages of automation and artificial intelligence in e-waste processing.
