In this research, the creation and review of a sustainable water treatment process using rainwater harvesting at Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges are reported. The purpose was to (1) design a working water treatment system, (2) examine the water for its physical, biological and chemical properties and (3) estimate how much the suggested design might cost. Tests of rainwater collected from Duran Hall showed that the water met the requirements for drinking water in the Philippines, but microbiological findings pointed to coliform bacteria, so the water is not safe for drinking. To solve this problem, the system ran water through granular carbon, fine sand, coarse sand, and gravel, then treated it with UV rays to remove harmful microbes. The effective discharge rate of 1 liter every 7 seconds and the 0.46 m³/h flow shown by the treatment system made it suitable for domestic or small business use. The overall cost was P60,309 to pay for everything and upkeep. Based on the results, the study recommends the facility as an effective, affordable and eco-friendly approach to clean water. Experts suggest that future architectural designs will become stronger against severe weather and can adapt to new sources of water, too.
