Motivated by the increasing demand for renewable energy and effective waste management, the research addresses the environmental impacts of fossil fuel dependence and food waste disposal. A developmental method was used to construct and evaluate two systems: one with a food shredder and one without. Saba banana peels and chicken manure served as the primary feedstock. Experimental results over a 42-day period showed that shredded food waste produced more biogas within a shorter time span compared to unshredded waste, with peak production observed at 28 days. The digester with a shredder achieved a maximum biogas yield of 0.225432 kg in 28 days, providing a more efficient alternative to traditional digesters. Safety features, including a pressure gauge and detachable framework, were incorporated. This study demonstrates the viability of incorporating a food waste shredder to improve biogas output and offers practical solutions for households and small-scale food businesses seeking sustainable energy option.1 aOlaguera, Justine B.eauthor.1 aSatiada, John Lester T.eauthor.1 aSoriano, Henrico Jose Antonio B.eauthor.1 aTubig, John Mico D.V.eauthor.1 aVelasco, Geift Anjelo B.eauthor. aDimanarig, Edriane Jay L.eadviser. aLuceña, Leo E.echair, panelist. aBaal, Anjanette B.epanelist. aBargo, Angelo M.epanelist.
