This research delves into the records management practices of mountain barangay secretaries in the town of Buhi, Camarines Sur, with the aim of analyzing existing practices, identifying challenges, and proposing an extension program to enhance their capabilities. The study employed a survey to gather data from both SK Secretaries, focusing on four key aspects of records management: creation, maintenance, retrieval, and disposition. The findings reveal that while mountain barangay secretaries generally demonstrate positive practices, particularly in records maintenance, they face significant challenges stemming from limited resources, access to technology, and the lack of standardized systems. The study identifies a need for an extension program that addresses these challenges by providing record management training for newly elected barangay officials, and promoting basic parliamentary procedure workshops. The research underscores the importance of strengthening records management practices in mountain barangays to improve governance, transparency, and service delivery to residents. The study provides a valuable foundation for developing targeted interventions that can empower mountain barangay secretaries to effectively manage their records and contribute to the overall development of their communities. The research also highlights the specific challenges faced by mountain barangay secretaries in each stage of the records management process.
