This study aimed to assess the public engagement mechanisms employed by City Youth Officials (CYOs) in their youth development programs. The research focused on transparency measures by CYOs and the extent to which they promote public engagement among their constituents. The researchers collected the data using quantitative method, which included a survey questionnaire among CYOs and a review of pertinent policy documents and program reports.

In terms of decision-making, the study found limited opportunities for youth to directly influence the development and implementation of CYO programs. Community involvement was more prominent, with the CYO organizing regular events and activities to engage residents. Moreover, the lack of communication and feedback channels hindered the effectiveness of the transparency and accountability mechanisms that were in place. Collaboration with other stakeholders, such as local businesses and community organizations, was evident but could be further strengthened.

The study also highlighted the importance of youth empowerment, noting that CYO's initiatives have empowered young people to become active participants in their communities. However, more can be done to amplify their voices and agency.

The study concludes with recommendations for CYOs to enhance its public engagement strategies, fostering greater youth participation, transparency, and collaborative partnerships to better serve the needs of the community.
