TI - Prevalence of risk factors for osteoarthritis among adults of selected barangays in Nabua, Camarines Sur N1 - Undergraduate Theses (BSN) - Nursing; Includes bibliographic references N2 - The present study investigated the prevalence of the risk factors for osteoarthritis as well as the relationship between the profile of the respondents and their risk factors. The researchers employed the descriptive method and made use of questionnaires as the main gathering tool. The questionnaires were distributed to 145 respondents from the 3 barangays in Nabua, Camarines Sur, with 54 respondents from San Isidro, 49 from San Juan, and 42 from San Nicolas. The numbers of respondents per barangay were determined using Slovin's formula. After analyzing the data gathered using various statistical tools such as the percentage technique, weighted mean, and Chi-square test of independence, it was shown that alcohol consumption, gadget use, and daily routine were the risk factors that were very prevalent among the respondents. Hence, it can be deduced that the respondents were not cognizant of the negative health implications brought about by these habits, especially for physical mobility. The occupation and family monthly income have a substantial impact on the likelihood that respondents will acquire osteoarthritis. From these, the researchers are highly encouraging the respondents on attending and participating in simple health education in the barangay health center regarding osteoarthritis, its signs and symptoms, risk factors, and how to prevent it, the health care team to create a deployment program wherein there should be adequate healthcare professionals and workers across the municipality who will provide osteoarthritis-related services, the Department of Health on installing a community-based information system that caters to all adults dealing with risk factors that may trigger the development of osteoarthritis, and the future researchers are encouraged to further investigate about the salient findings of the study ER -
