Dissertation note: Undergraduate Theses (BSN) - Nursing. Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges, 2025. Abstract: Aging in place and participating in society can be challenging for elderly individuals due to common diseases. To better support aging in place, changes in the current healthcare systems are necessary. This study aims to assess the current level of access to basic healthcare services among the elderly population in selected barangays of Nabua, Camarines Sur, and identify the factors affecting access to these services. A descriptive correlational quantitative research design was used to determine the profile of the respondents, assess access to basic healthcare services, and identify the physical/environmental, emotional, economical, psychosocial, and political factors affecting access. Survey questionnaire was utilized to collect data from approximately 215 elderly individuals from San Roque, San Esteban, and San Antonio Población. This will provide valuable insights into the challenges faced by the elderly in accessing basic healthcare services, ultimately informing strategies to improve healthcare access and promote healthy aging. The data reveals a noticeable difference with the weighted mean of 3.36 in check-ups for preventive healthcare services, while health education seminars ranked least, while preventive services are well-accessed. For curative health services, access to short-term illness ranked highest with a weighted mean of 3.11, follow-up consultations with an average score of 2.23 and other medical services including mental health services scored 1.46. For rehabilitative healthcare services, only moderate access and accessibility for home health services such as home visitation with 2.54. For factors that affect the access to basic healthcare services, 3.37 for physical/environmental factors, 3.22 for economic factors, 2.65 for emotional factors, 2.56 for psychosocial factors, and 3.22 for political factors, all signifies the concerns in basic healthcare services. These hindrances prompts actions such as strategies in health education, as well as seminars/campaigns to raise awareness in the services offered to the elderly of the selected barangays of Nabua, Camarines Sur.
