Dissertation note: Undergraduate Theses (BPA) - Public Administration. Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges, 2025 Abstract: In Filipino culture and values, various factors can influence an individual's decision- making-including decisions related to voting. Deep-rooted cultural norms such as familism, utang na loob, the compadre system, and populism significantly shape voting behavior. With the generational shift, the values, preferences, and behaviors of Generation Z are increasingly likely to influence the political landscape. This study aims to analyze the voting behavior of Generation Z and its potential impact on the future political landscape in Rinconada. Based on a review of literature on voting behavior, Lewin's Field Theory, and the Theory of Planned Behavior/Reasoned Action, a survey questionnaire was administered to Gen Z respondents from the Municipality of Bato, Nabua, Baao, Buhi, and the City of Iriga. The questionnaire was structured into four sections: demographic profile, frame of reference, candidate characteristics, and campaign strategies. Analysis of the responses revealed several factors influencing voting behavior, which in turn contribute to a deeper understanding of how Generation Z votes in the Rinconada area. At the individual level, influential factors include religion, income, education, and age. Socio-cultural factors encompass emotional ties such as family influence, social networks, media exposure, and social identity. Political factors include campaign strategies and candidate characteristics. The findings suggest that analyzing Gen Z voting behavior in Rinconada provides insight into how this generation selects candidates or policymakers. These identified factors are critical in shaping the future political landscape. Further research is recommended to explore the deeper, underlying impacts of these factors and to better understand the evolving voting behavior of future generations.
