Dissertation note: Undergraduate Theses (BSN) - Nursing. Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges, 2024. Abstract: Over the years, teenage delinquency remains to be a relevant discussion in society despite having less publication about the issue. Hence, the relevance of understanding the lived experiences of teenagers with delinquent acts in the selected municipalities of Camarines Sur caught the interest of the researchers to conduct this study. Phenomenological qualitative research approach is utilized to explore the purpose of this research, which is to describe the thoughts and reasons of teenagers in committing delinquent behaviors. The researchers used a convenience sampling to select the participants based on their geographical proximity and willingness to participate. The researchers further employed Cresswell's method to analyze and interpret the data gathered through formal interviews. Thematic reflections are identified based on the codes and trends investigated from the participant’s perspective. There are nine categories determined and are merged into four major themes, namely individual, family, school/neighborhood/community, and peer influences. The results showed that there are four participants that attributed their delinquent behaviors from individual influences; while four participants identified family influence as a primary reason for delinquent behavior; for school/neighborhood/community influence, only one participant identified it as the main catalyst for their delinquent acts; lastly, in terms of peer influence, five participants stated that they learned most of their delinquent behaviors from their peers. In conclusion, the study concluded that there is a need to recognize the early prevention and risk reduction of delinquency. Additionally, a supportive environment and programs are necessary to address the issue such as to spread awareness, prevent delinquent behaviors and develop strategies to improve the teenager’s personal growth.
