Dissertation note: Undergraduate Theses (BSIT) - Information Technology. Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges, 2024. Abstract: This study presents the design and implementation of a Fingerprint-Based Biometric Smart Door Lock System with Intelligent Alarm Integration for the NAS Laboratory at Ca marines Sur Polytechnic Colleges. It integrates Arduino hardware, a fingerprint sensor, and a Java Swing-based desktop application with MySQL, enabling real-time authentication and access logging via serial communication. The system supports secure fingerprint reg istration, database storage, and immediate access validation, while unauthorized attempts trigger an intelligent alarm system with email notifications. Extensive testing confirmed the system’s reliability, achieving a 1.00 (Completely Functional) rating in User Acceptance Testing, with successful results in account management, fingerprint registration, authenti cation, and alarm functionality. Integration and Stress Testing results demonstrated seam less synchronization, stability, and resilience under extreme conditions, both maintaining a perfect 1.00 score. Developed using the Extreme Programming (XP) methodology, the system prioritizes reliability and user-centric functionality, making it a cost-effective and dependable biometric security solution for laboratories, offices, and homes.
