Summary: "Teaching secondary school requires a variety of teaching methods to address different learning levels, styles and intelligence of secondary school students. Some of the most important teaching methods for secondary school include proper classroom management, motivation and a welcoming classroom environment, plus a curriculum and activities that address a multitude of learning styles. The curriculum of secondary schools has to be kept very wide in view of the fact that the students come from various socio-economic backgrounds and as such their interests and aptitudes differ. Mainly secondary schools offer humanities, science, commerce and vocational subjects as the elective. Also there is a core curriculum which is compulsory for all the students especially up to 10 class which includes, social studies, languages, general science and crafts. Simply put, teaching method is any teaching maneuver that can be used to facilitate students learning and satisfaction. Different teaching methods may elicit different types of changes in learning outcomes. Teaching methods are many and varied and could be used in different ways, considering among others the age of the learners, body configuration or physique of learners, (able or disabled learners).Academic ability/intelligence of the learners, number of learners and of course the type of curriculum discipline which recognizes the fact that certain teaching methods are much more suitable to some disciplines than others. The methods teaching should also take into consideration the prevailing economic conditions in the society. The methods of teaching are also influenced by the prevailing political system in the country. A good secondary education system should be based on philosophy, psychology and sociology. Nowadays teachers are trained for teaching in secondary schools and methods of teaching have become time tested and reliable and faulty"-- Back cover.
