Summary: CNSCRJ is the official system-wide research publication of Camarines Norte State College. It publishes research outputs with commercial value and potential to be copyrighted or patented across disciplines from within and outside CNSC that pass the blind review, technical evaluation and in-house review processes. The journal is published biannually through the Office of the Vice President for Research and Extension of the college. All articles in this journal passed the online Plagiarism Test and Originality Check. Abstract: The province of Camarines Norte has abundant reserve of clay soil, the Provincial Planning and Development Office (PPDO) reports 274.93 million metric tons of clay resource as of 2012. This study may open an opportunity for various related products which requires lesser strength standard such as concrete hollowed blocks (CHB), decorative bricks and pavers. Thus, it aimed to provide mathematical model between the mechanical properties and sand-clay mixture proportion. This research used experimental approach through One Factor-Three Levels Randomized Design with Replication. Physical properties of materials used in the study and mechanical properties of the specimens were measured using laboratory tests prescribed by ASTM Standards. Research results established the characteristics of concrete mixed with yellow clay soil in terms of its mechanical properties such as compressive and fleXural Colle strength. Based on the test results, it was found out that the percentage of nic C and Develop chr sand-clay ratio, r, has a strong and significant power association with the compressive strengths,f'm, of the clay-concrete masonry under investigation. This can be expressed by the mathematical model, f'mn= 9.71 r0.31. However, the increase of clay content in the mix did not significantly affect the flexural strengths of concrete masonry. The variation of compressive strength,f'm, and the flexural strength f' bm was delimited to the sand-clay ratio (0.33, 1.0, and 3.0). The power relationship that strongly correlates these two variables was expressed asf'm = 10.34 f'bm28, This relationship was established as an important tool in setting potential product use of yellow clay concrete masonry. Keywords : Compressive strength, flexural strength, yellow clay, concrete masonry
