Fish ports are pivotal that is why these ports must be carefully planned. In this study, researchers propose an improved design for the Balatan Municipal Fish Port, in Siramag, Balatan, Camarines Sur. The study specifically aims to: (1) assess existing data on the Balatan fish port in terms of physical, hydrographic, and topographic conditions; (2) design a fish port conforming to the technical standards of the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA), Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), and the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Standards for Ports and Harbor Structures; and (3) determine the estimated cost of the proposed improvement design. With these aims in mind, the researchers devised research procedures divided into two phases: Preliminary Assessment of the Existing Fish Port Design and Development Phase of the Improved Fish Port. Through field studies, researchers identified shortcomings of the existing fish port, such as the deteriorated causeway and absence of dedicated storage facilities, emphasizing the urgency for upgrades to enhance efficiency and functionality. Topographic and hydrographic assessments obtained from the National Mapping and Resource Information Authority (NAMRIA) revealed the vulnerability of the fish port to storm surges, highlighting the need for strategic design changes. The proposed improvements address the challenges encountered and are reviewed upon analysis of the existing fish port in Balatan, Camarines Sur. They include expanding the Administration and Operations Office, adding cold storage units, and making structural adjustments to the causeway and Market Hall. These proposed improvements are deemed benefecial for the port's long-run operations. The total estimated cost is ₱7,538,631.00. The researchers recommend that key officials adopt their proposed improved design of the fish port.
