Dissertation note: Undergraduate Theses (BSN) - Nursing. Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges, 2023. Abstract: Access to medical care can be severely restricted in remote areas, leading to delayed emergency treatment or, in some cases, a complete lack of available care. Individuals residing in isolated regions that necessitate boat transportation and other unconventional modes of travel often face challenges attending regular healthcare visits due to the combined constraints of geographical remoteness and the prohibitive costs associated with private health services. Limited access to public hospitals exacerbates the situation, making private health services the only viable option for those in far-flung areas. This study delves into the health-seeking preference of residents in Iraya, Buhi, Camarines Sur. Employing the descriptive-correlational method, the research utilized questionnaires as the primary data-gathering tool, involving 270 household heads in the study. Findings unveiled that residents commonly grapple with health issues like coughs, colds, and heart attacks, with the Barangay Health Center emerging as their preferred primary healthcare facility during illnesses. The health-seeking choices of the residents demonstrate a moderate influence from various factors, excluding spiritual and socio-economic considerations. In response to these findings, a proposed plan aims to implement measures aligning with the appropriate health-seeking preferences of the residents in Iraya, Buhi, Camarines Sur. This initiative seeks to address the unique challenges posed by geographical isolation and economic constraints, fostering a more accessible and responsive healthcare system tailored to the needs of the community.
