Dissertation note: Undergraduate Theses (BSIT) - Information Technology. Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges, 2024. Abstract: The Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges, College of Computer Studies Mac Laboratory faced challenges in monitoring and managing individuals entering and exiting the laboratory, resulting in security inefficiencies and risks. To address these issues, this capstone project "Lockmac: Smart Door Lock Integrating RFID for Mac Laboratory" was developed to modernize and secure laboratory operations through RFID technology integration. This innovative system automates the monitoring of individuals entering and exiting the laboratory, ensuring accurate tracking of access, improving security, and simplifying administrative processes. Utilizing the Extreme Programming (XP) methodology, the project emphasized iterative development and continuous feedback to ensure a user-focused design. Insights from 327 students, faculty, and IT professionals, gathered through a mixed-method approach, guided the system's design and evaluation. Comprehensive black-box testing, including system, acceptance, and security evaluations, confirmed the system's functionality, security, and scalability, with perfect scores of 1.00 in each test, ensuring all needed criteria were met. These outcomes validate LockMac's readiness for implementation and highlight its potential as a scalable solution for enhancing laboratory management in educational institutions.
