Summary: "Public Finance provides a comprehensive focus on the management of public funds. The main components of public finance include activities related to collecting revenue, making expenditures to support society, and implementing a financing strategy (such as issuing government debt). Public finance is that part of finance which hovers around the central question of allocation of resources subjected to the budget constraint of the government or public entities. It is that branch of economics which identities and appraises the means and effects of the policies of the government. By this definition, we can understand that public finance deals with income and expenditure of government entity at any level be it central, state or local. However in the modern day context, public finance has a wider scope-it studies the impact of government policies on the economy. Public expenditure is the money spent by government entities. Logically, the government is going to spend money on infrastructure, defense, education, healthcare, etc. for the growth and welfare of the country. This book begins with an introduction to the nature and scope of public finance including its relationship to public budgeting the practice of public sector accounting and the economic concepts of money and value." -- Back cover
