Dissertation note: Undergraduate Theses (BSEE) - Electrical Engineering. Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges, 2024. Abstract: The increasing demand for electricity in the Philippines, driven by population growth and technological advancements, has led to rising energy costs and financial strain on institutions. Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges (CSPC) faces an annual electricity expense of approximately P5.4 million, necessitating sustainable solutions to reduce operational costs. This study proposes a solar-powered multi-level parking system designed to be self-energy-sustaining, addressing both energy efficiency and financial sustainability. Using a Descriptive-Developmental Research Methodology, the study calculated electrical loads, determined optimal solar panel configurations, and conducted a cost-benefit analysis. The proposed system includes 39 solar panels (285W each), 15 batteries (12V, 300Ah), and a 6.2kW inverter, generating 33.696 kWh/day, clearly sufficient to power lighting, across four parking levels. Financial analysis revealed an initial investment of P890,800, with a payback period of 6.02 years compared to conventional grid costs (P148,043.68/year). The findings demonstrate that solar integration significantly reduces CSPC's electricity expenses while adhering to the Philippine Electrical Code (PEC). This study serves as a model for renewable energy adoption in academic institutions, promoting cost efficiency, sustainability, and energy independence. Future recommendations include expanding solar applications to other campus facilities and exploring hybrid energy systems for greater resilience.
