Stenography is one of the subjects under this program that aims to prepare the students to the real world of stenography it's either in a court room or medical field. This research tries to determine the current state of stenography skills, identifying challenges encountered in dictation and transcription of the BSOA students in Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges (CSPC) Buhi Campus. One hundred sixty-two (162) of BSOA 3rd year students who have taken stenography and enrolled in the first semester of school year 2024-2025 at CSPC Buhi Campus served as the respondents. The Descriptive Method was used to attain the objectives. The instrument used in this study was a research-made survey questionnaire for data collection and was interpreted using weighted mean. The result showed that most of the respondents are in the age range 19-21 years old, majority of the respondents are female, single, and had a previous training on basic shorthand. Furthermore, majority of the respondents agreed that the respondents possessed the mentioned skills in stenography along dictation and transcription. However, on the challenges encountered in stenography by the BSOA students, majority of the respondents agreed that during dictation respondents are unable to address errors and correction immediately and in terms of transcription they are unable to recall dictated data. Moreover, instructional materials are presented to address the challenges encountered of BSOA students in stenography.
