The availability of clean and safe drinking water is a fundamental necessity for human well-being and development. However, many communities, including San Roque, Bato, Camarines Sur, face challenges in accessing potable water. The study focused on the critical issue of ensuring access to clean and safe drinking water in San Roque, Bato, Camarines Sur, highlighting the importance of such resources for human health and development. It aimed at developing a water filtration system tailored to meet the needs of the local community. By assessing the condition of the existing water supply and employing descriptive and developmental research methodologies, the project aligned with the Philippine National Standards for Drinking Water of 2017 (PNSDW 2017) and DOH-AO 2017-0010. The research involved bacteriological quality tests on water samples, specifically targeting total and fecal coliforms, to inform the design of the filtration system. Utilizing materials like gravel, sand, activated charcoal, and filtration sheets to separate layers, the project proposed a water filtration and storage system measuring 3.5 m x 4 m x 6 m, incorporating an automatic chlorinator for water treatment. With a construction cost estimated at P112,180.75, the study concluded that the designed filtration system is both effective and appropriate for providing safe drinking water to the residents of San Roque, thereby addressing a significant challenge in the community's access to potable water. These factors make the study important in addressing the water supply challenges in San Roque, Bato, Camarines Sur.
