Dissertation note: Undergraduate Theses (BCAED) - Culture and Arts Education Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges, 2025 Abstract: Culture and Arts Education students often face the challenge of balancing their academic responsibilities with their artistic pursuits. This study examines the specific challenges that influence this balance among Bachelor of Culture and Arts Education (BCAED) students at Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges (CSPC). This study aimed to determine the profile of the respondents in terms of year level, age, sex, socio-economic status, and perceived artistic involvement. It also identified challenges affecting their academic-artistic balance, including time management, academic workload, artistic undertakings, financial constraints, peer influence, mental and physical well-being, institutional and family support, personal motivation, and teacher-student interactions. Additionally, the study examined whether there is a significant difference between the respondents' profiles and the identified challenges and proposed activity based on the findings. The study employed a descriptive research method, utilizing survey questionnaires to collect data from ninety-two (92) BCAED student artists. Results showed that most respondents were in their second year, with the most common age being 19. The majority were male, with household incomes of 11,000 Philippine pesos or less. Many respondents were actively engaged in artistic pursuits. Among the identified factors, mental and physical well-being had the most significant impact on balancing academic and artistic pursuits. Based on the findings, the researchers proposed an intervention activity titled TUNGO: A Seminar on Guiding Student Artists Towards Harmonious Academic and Artistic Lives. This seminar aims to provide practical strategies to help student artists manage their academic and artistic commitments effectively. Additionally, the study recommends that BCAED students engage in self-care practices such as stress management techniques, regular exercise, and seeking counseling support to maintain their overall well-being, which is crucial for their academic and artistic success.
