Dissertation note: Undergraduate Theses (ABELS) - English Language Studies Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges, 2024 Abstract: The study explores the vital role that effective communication strategies have in addressing the ongoing problem of violence against women (VAW), highlighting the importance of posters as powerful visual tools in raising awareness and instigating action. It investigates the 18-Day promotional To End Violence Against Women in the Philippines' multimodal promotional materials. Analyzing the interaction between textual and visual components, the study reveals how posters advocate for inclusion and empathy while skillfully narrating stories of societal injustices. Through the Theory of Reading Images, insights into the complex dynamics of linguistic and visual semiotics in addressing violence, harassment, and discrimination are revealed. The study emphasizes the value of grammatical constructs in building audience-poster relationships and emphasizes the benefits of realism and grammatical devices like alliteration in improving public perception and comprehension. The results highlight how effectively language and visual elements work together to create meaning and promote social change, emphasizing the posters' role as catalysts for debate, action, and the creation of a more equal and inclusive society.
