Dissertation note: Undergraduate Thesis (BSEE) - Electrical Engineering. Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges, 2023. Abstract: This research encompasses the design, fabrication, and evaluation of a PLC Based Variable Capacity Rice Cooker, with the primary goal of automating the rice preparation process. Employing a descriptive-developmental approach, the study addressed objectives such as designing and fabricating the device, along with evaluating its functionality and variable capacity for rice and water. The cooker incorporates geared motors, two submersible water pumps for filling and draining tasks, and a motorized ball valve, all controlled by a PLC system. The fabrication process followed systematic steps, including 2D design creation and programming implementation. The findings revealed the device's ability to consistently produce high-quality cooked rice across different capacities, albeit minor percentage errors were observed. The PLC-based design showcased reliability and precision, maintaining optimal results within specified tolerances. Notably, the device exhibited versatility in handling various quantities of rice.
