Dissertation note: Undergraduate Theses (BSCE) - Civil Engineering. Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges, 2022. Abstract: The capstone project proposed an improvement plan of mini-darn to enhance the irrigation in San Francisco, Baao, Camarines. The study determined the existing condition of the mini-dam in terms of physical structure and functionality, it also determined the existing condition of the river in terms of cross sections upstream and downstream, discharge and elevation of water and floodwater. The study determined an improvement plan in terms of architectural and hydromechanical appearance, the cost estimate was also determined. The data gathering procedure included site inspection, hydrographic surveying and interview. The design process included the use of AutoCAD and SketchUp software. The study did not include the design of the irrigation distribution system. The study identified that 1) Small cracks and damaged edges were visible in the structure and the main purpose of the mini-dam was to irrigate the farmlands of San Francisco. 2) The river upstream and downstream did not differ much in terms of cross section and discharge. 3) Ogee dam design was chosen in the design, two sluice gates were added. 4) The total anticipated cost of the project was six hundred sixty-four thousand four hundred thirty-five pesos. The researchers concluded that the mini-dam was due for renovation and the existing condition of the river did not affect much the result of the improvement plan. In view of findings and conclusion, the researchers recommended the following: 1) Conducting Strength analysis is recommended to determine the lifespan of the existing mini-dam, 2) Conduct a survey upstream beyond the bridge to obtain more accurate river discharge, 3) The researchers also recommend that the irrigation system must be included in the design, 4) Additional computation were recommended such as security cost, maintenance cost and return of investment, and 5) Conduct an actual field survey for the elevation of floodwater.
