The present utility model relates to a downdraft gasifier that converts compressed rice hull into syngas. The syngas is a natural gas that can be utilized to power up a generator to produce electricity. The purpose of this study was to design, fabricate, and test the automated small-scale downdraft gasifier using compressed rice hull with used-oil burner that could be used by residential electricity consumers during power interruption. This study was conducted using descriptive and developmental methods of research. The designed gasifier has an oil burner, reactor hopper, centrifugal filter, water and wood filter, and blower. The materials used in the device were empty freon tanks, G.I tube, G.I plain sheets, G.I steel pipes, fuel hose, ball valve, 12 V battery, nozzle, and air compressor. The device was effective in terms of the functionality of the used oil-burner, it can also produce minimal amount of syngas that can power up the generator for a very short time. Hence, it is recommended to modify the design of the gasifier to make it more efficient and functional, also to use automation and microcontrollers such as oxygen sensor that will help monitor the air-to-fuel ratio intake of the engine generator and the MAX6675 thermocouple sensor that will be used to monitor the heat inside the reactor hopper to more convenient to use.
