Dissertation note: Undergraduate Theses (BSME) - Mechanical Engineering. Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges, 2022. Abstract: Coconut is one of the Philippines' most important crops and a key export. It is a palm tree that grows in tropical climates and is popular all around the world. People use almost every component of coconut in some way. The Philippines is ranked second in the world in coconut output. The traditional method of grating with one's hands is quite common; however, it creates a safety concern. Commercially available coconut scraping machines are not completely automated and need manual labor. The semi-automated approach requires the operator to hold the half-shell of the coconut against a spinning blade, which is often powered by an electric motor. (Mendes et al., 2020) The approach proposed in this study eliminates almost all the risks associated with coconut scraping. The goal of this study is to create an automated feeding coconut scraping machine that will aid in the safety of producing coconut outputs.
