The Philippines is a country where there is an abundance of natural resources. We can obtain enough amount of biomass from these sources that can be used to produce a type of renewable energy source, which is biogas. Biogas is produced after the organic materials are broken down by bacteria in an oxygen-free environment, a process called anaerobic digestion. Biogas systems use this process to recycle these organic materials, turning them into biogas that contains both energy (gas), and valuable soil products (liquids and solids). This paper contains the design and development of biogas monitor and data logger for anaerobic digester which utilize the use of MQ-4 and MQ-135 sensors that measures the methane and carbon dioxide, respectively. The researchers came up with this study, to create a biogas monitor and data logger for anaerobic digester which is used to monitor biogas parameters and biogas content in certain biodigester. To assess the accuracy of this device, the researchers used a digital gas indicator as a standard device to compare data read between the devices. The device is tested on Legazpi City Abattoir's floating type biodigester with a capacity of approximately 5100 m3. Pig manure is anaerobically digested in the biodigester with a ratio of 1:1. The tests are conducted with an interval of one hour every trial. The results are then analyzed and interpreted. Biogas is composed of an average of approximately 65% methane and 35% carbon dioxide. Based on this study, the outcome demonstrates that the instrument is reasonably accurate, with a total percentage of error of 6.16%, or 38.625 ppm of biogas. This device serves as a way to promote the use of renewable energy like biogas through merging technology with agriculture, by utilizing tools that can make the process easier.
