| Summary, etc. |
"Management is the process of planning and organising the resources and activities of a business to achieve specific goals in the most effective and efficient manner possible. Efficiency in management refers to the completion of tasks correctly and at minimal costs. Effectiveness in management relates to the completion of tasks within specific timelines to yield tangible results. For any organization to be a resounding success, it has to be managed properly. It is like a symphony, where all teams work together toward the company's vision and growth. To achieve this, leaders need to understand the complexities of company management and adopt effective leadership practices. By doing so, leaders can positively impact their teams and foster innovation, productivity, and teamwork. Additionally, it helps them optimize resource allocation and drive companies toward long-term growth. Company management involves actively overseeing and directing a company's activities, resources, and personnel to accomplish its objectives. It requires decision-making, strategic planning, organization, communication, and oversight. Successful company management relies on leaders at different levels who motivate employees to get things done. Most management oversees and supervises a company or organisation's service or production cycle. Managers work closely with and provide guidance to the members of their team. A manager considers a staff member both as an individual with diverse needs and as a component of the larger group. To be effective, managers influence their team members to apply their unique strengths toward achieving the organisation's goals.
Apart from the pandemic, the business posture and dynamics of yesteryear has significantly changed, as the way business is conducted today, especially in this era of Industry 4.0 and the proliferation of technology-assisted processes, have created a new environment for doing business. Comparatively, yesterday's businesses seemed to have been in the "dark" keeping itself within limited geographical locations, contacts, and markets. However, business today with the technological boom, has created a global village with the advent of the World Wide Web and social media which is redefining the way business is conducted especially in product and service development, marketing and publicity, customer attraction and retention, scouting and recruitment, and so on. Management is the implementation of policies that are created through effective administration. To ensure proper administration, each process must be managed at each level. Management and administration are two terms that are often used interchangeably. To understand the difference between administration and management, you must know that these two are not synonyms. The two terms are different in terms of functions, but these two have the same objective. Both management and administration are crucial for achieving the final goal. These two go hand in hand since administration and management are incomplete without the other. If the system has poor administration, weak policies and procedures will adversely impact everyone from higher level to lower level. In the end managers will have no clue of what path to take for achieving the end goal. On the other hand, if the administration is strong but management is weak, it will also cripple the system. Whether it is a profit-making organization or an NGO, proper administration is required to achieve the objectives of the organization.
This book responds to contemporary calls for new ways of managing business with practitioner-oriented discourses on topical issues like business environments and how modern business can thrive in the same"-- Preface of the book. |
