Birthing homes play a significant role in healthcare, serving as essential centers<br/>for maternal care. Many such facilities, including Queen Hannah Birthing Home, still<br/>rely on traditional paper-based processes, contrasting with the advancing landscape of<br/>healthcare technology. With these, this study was conducted aimed on digitizing the<br/>paper-based patient record system of Queen Hannah Birthing Home. Generally, this<br/>study identified the problems encountered in the manual processes of the birthing home,<br/>developed and implemented an efficient and effective web-based information<br/>management system that manage patient records electronically, update patient through<br/>SMS Notification; and evaluated the system’s performance using Black Box Testing. The<br/>respondents of this study were the employees of the birthing home specifically the owner,<br/>staff, midwife/nurse, and patient. In gathering the data, interview guide and test case via<br/>questionnaire were used. The data gathered were analyzed and interpreted using<br/>Arithmetic Mean. Upon the analysis of the gathered data, the results have shown that the<br/>problems encountered in manual process of managing patient records, notifying of<br/>announcements, and generating reports include time-consuming process of paper-based<br/>recording, difficulties in relaying updates and announcements, mistakes and inaccuracy in<br/>patient numbering, and manual recording of reports. Further, upon the evaluation of the<br/>black box testing in terms of boundary value analysis and requirements-based testing, the<br/>result has shown an overall rating of 0.97 and is highly functional. Therefore, the<br/>implementation of Queen Hannah Birthing Home Information Management System with<br/>SMS Notification was recommended to enhance the birthing home’s record-keeping and<br/>transactions. |
