Summary, etc. Employee engagement plays a vital role in healthcare settings, influencing staff retention, job satisfaction, and the quality of patient care. In Saudi Arabia, government hospitals face persistent challenges in retaining nursing staff and maintaining high levels of workforce satisfaction. This study aims to examine the relationship between employee engagement, nurse retention, and patient satisfaction in a government hospital in the Qassim region.

A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted among 200 nurses and 152 patients using self-constructed questionnaires. The nurse questionnaire addressed employee engagement, job satisfaction, workload, compensation, and resource access. The patient questionnaire assessed satisfaction with care, communication, and waiting time. Data analysis included percentage distributions, weighted means, chi-square tests, and t-tests to explore relationships between engagement and organizational or demographic variables.

The nursing workforce was predominantly young and female. Overall, nurses expressed neutral satisfaction with their work environment. Significant concerns included inadequate salaries, workload management, limited access to resources, and stress management support. Despite these challenges, patient satisfaction was generally high, although long waiting times were identified as a major area for improvement. Statistical analysis revealed a significant relationship between employee engagement and organizational factors such as compensation, workload, and work-life balance. No significant relationship was found between engagement and demographic characteristics.

The findings emphasize the critical role of employee engagement in enhancing nurses' retention and patient satisfaction. Targeted interventions-such as improving salaries and benefits, promoting work-life balance, supporting stress management, and addressing workload concerns are recommended to boost engagement. These strategies are expected to reduce bumout, improve job satisfaction, and ultimately enhance the quality of care delivered in government healthcare facilities.
