This study delved into the operation management practices of night market vendors in selected cities and municipalities within the Province of Albay. Employing a quantitative research approach, data were collected from 206 vendors through a self-administered questionnaire, utilizing a stratified sampling technique for representative sampling. Adopting a descriptive-correlational design, the study aimed to discern significant differences in operation management practices based on vendor profiles and to examine the relationship between these practices and encountered challenges. Findings revealed that the majority of night market vendors were aged 51-60, predominantly male, with a high school education and married. They typically operated with an initial capital of less than Php10,000, had been in business for 3-5 years, and earned an average daily income of less than Php5,000. Sole proprietorship was common, with 1-2 employees. In terms of operation management practices, vendors reported high levels of engagement in procurement, product preparation, pricing strategy, sales and marketing strategy, and customer service relations. Internal challenges such as sourcing, storage, cost management, innovation, and staff training engagement were encountered, alongside external challenges like compliance, weather conditions, competition, online reviews, and customer relations. While vendor profiles did not significantly influence operation management practices, a significant relationship was observed between these practices and internal challenges, suggesting management strategies' influence on overcoming internal hurdles. Conversely, no significant relationship was found between operation management practices and external challenges.<br/><br/>Based on these findings, the proposed Night Market Operations Business Manual aims to enhance vendors' operation management practices, foster collaboration, and address various challenges, ultimately fostering the success and sustainability of their businesses. |
